The Greater Omaha Barbeque Society (GOBS) was formed in 1992 to promote the art and science of genuine barbeque in the Omaha area and to organize the first-ever annual State Barbeque Championship of Nebraska.
At the first GOBS meeting, a baker's dozen of barbeque mavens only dreamed of what could be. Today, the dream is a reality, as membership has grown to over 200 individual members and 15 businesses!
GOBS publishes its own newspaper, Drippings, and the State Barbeque Championship of Nebraska is in its 17th successful year. Members meet once a month at varying barbeque venues to conduct club business, plan upcoming activities, and most importantly, eat some mighty fine barbeque!
